Creating safe, structured spaces for young males to build responsibility, make wise decisions, and explore future opportunities.

From scholarships and voter education to senior support and mentorship, the Foundation continues creating measurable local impact across the community.
In Orangeburg and Calhoun County, many residents are working to move forward while facing barriers tied to poverty, limited educational access, unemployment, health disparities, civic disengagement, and social isolation.
These challenges affect students trying to complete school, seniors and widows who need connection, young men seeking guidance, families working toward stability, and residents who need greater access to resources and opportunity.
The House of Alpha Foundation responds through community-rooted programs that are built to serve real people, address real needs, and create lasting impact close to home.
Our work is local, intentional, and rooted in the belief that strong communities are built through consistent service.

The House of Alpha Foundation is led by a dedicated Board of Directors committed to faithful governance, responsible stewardship, and strategic leadership in service of the Foundation’s mission.
This work is grounded in the legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Delta Zeta Lambda Chapter, and carried forward through a deep commitment to education, service, and community progress across Orangeburg and Calhoun County.
Every scholarship, partnership, program, and act of charitable giving reflects a larger responsibility: to build something that serves today’s needs while creating pathways that last beyond a single moment or funding cycle.
— Dr. J. Derrick Cattenhead, Chairman and President
